Myself in A Shoe

Dance has been a part of my life since the age of three, so I just had to incorporate it into my identity logo. It is also representation of my personality. I do all styles of dance, but one of my favorites is tap, so that is how I decided that the base of my design would be a tap shoe. The heart on the shoe shows my caring personality, but also my love for dance; a “multi-purpose heart”. I chose to use black and a red/pink color for my logo. Black is the classic color for a tap shoe, the color my tap shoes are, and I made the heart red because red creates emphasis on it, which I wanted because the heart meant to represent love and care. I feel as though the most successful part of my design is combining a “noun” and an “emotion”. I hope that when someone looks at my logo, they understand what it means.

The Perfect Project for a Senior

I entered this piece in the contest to be the cover for the program of the Senior Awards Ceremony. This was a lot of fun to design. I used Methacton’s colors, green and white, and senior symbols to make one cohesive cover that was formal yet creative. One art distinct art element is the background gradation; a darker green on the top to a very light green on the bottom. I knew I wanted to come up with a “senior” way to incorporate “Class of 2020”, so putting the phrase in a graduation cap felt llike the best way to do this. Working on this project was especially fun since I am a senior.

So Many  Shoes

One of my favorite pairs of shoes to wear is my Air Force One’s. They are white so they with many different colors and different types of outfits. So when this project was introduced, I knew I had to honor these shoes. I drew the shoe on illustrator, and because this is graphic design, I had to spice them up a little bit with color before I created the repetition. I feel that the two most successful elements in this piece are the color and the harmony. The horizontal lines of the shoe have a lower opacity, highlighting the larger shoe in the center of the artwork. The arrangment of the shoes creates a harmony that is visually pleasing.

Valentine Mountains

This scene was one of the very first pieces I created in graphic design. This project was a lot of fun to create because I didn’t have to use the typical colors of a mountain scene. I thought it would be really pretty to make the main colors pink and white, because both of those colors look good with the brown mountains. I consider that the most successful part. Some art elements I incorporated were line/movement and proportion. The path that starts in the foreground of the piece splits into two and draws the viewer’s eyes all the way back to the mountains. Along the path are trees that get smaller as the path continues to the background, meaning they are proportional to the distance.

Just  Enjoy!

Name a tastier project! Cookies are one of my most favorite desserts ever! Chocolate chip cookies are great and all, but why not add another yummy element. Personally, I love the flavor mint and chocolate together, so that is what my cookie became: peppermint-chip cookies! There are a variety of different colors and shapes in my design. I decided to use peppermint colors and winter colors like gold, blue, and green, to give it a cozy winter/holiday vibe, appealing to consumers. There is also a sense of balance on my box. The side with the two candy cane hearts is symmetrical, making it more satisfying to look at. I feel the most successful aspect of my cookie box design is the coloring, which I think would make it stand out on the shelves.
